ABOUT KAT: Kat (they/them) is a Queer writer, performer, workshop facilitator and creative producer whose work is grounded in everyday politics and a love of storytelling. Kat was the 2022-24 Bristol City Poet, and their most recent solo project was Dry Season, a spoken word theatre show exploring gender, age and menopause, which toured the UK in 2021-22. Their debut poetry collection Love Beneath the Nails is available from Verve Poetry Press. Kat has performed and facilitated workshops throughout the UK, and was nominated for the 2022 Jerwood Poetry in Performance Award. Their collaborative animated poetry film Duvet Days was selected as part of the official program at ZEBRA Poetry Film Festival 2021. They live in the Mendips where they spend a lot of time poking about looking at mushrooms. They are passionate about using storytelling to re/connect people to themselves, each other and their environment.

Kat is a brilliant and charismatic performer. Their control of movement and voice gives their work a physicality combined with a subtlety unusual in spoken word. Their writing is sharp, lyrical, well-observed and economical.

We booked Kat for a spoken word show at a community event in Tamworth. Kat kept the audience enthralled and entertained. I'd recommend them for any event. An absolute professional and an excellent, honest and brilliant performer.
